I am encouraged by Dr. Hill’s readiness and towering abilities to work with individuals and communities alike, whether she teaches and advises in the sacrosanct ivory towers of academia, or in those common, coarse venues–the streets–where real life is often transacted well before it arrives at, or is translated in, the psychologist’s office.

Her [Dr. Loren M Hill] enthusiasm and energy are contagious. That is important. Equally important is the respect that Dr. Hill enjoys among faculty from many academic programs in Southern California.

Dr. Hill breathed new life into my career at a time when I felt lost and trampled by academia. Her ability to understand my unique role in higher ed as a practitioner-scholar was so integral to the success of our work together. During the pandemic, I lost a lot of time, energy, and send of clarity and hope related to my work. Her skill set and background as a psychologist makes a real difference as a coach who can support the whole academician on our promotion and career development journeys. She was also a joy to work with, and she knows what she’s doing! You won’t regret investing in yourself and your career in eliciting her expertise!

Dr. Hill’s coaching helped me assess if teaching should be the next step in my professional career. The field requires a high level of academic rigor, instructional expertise, and emotional intelligence that many people cannot successfully integrate into this professional work. I wanted to be sure that this was something that I would be able to accomplish. Dr. Hill’s assessment and support helped me decide that teaching was a good fit. I also learned about other skill sets that I could incorporate in academia, such as coaching, mentoring, consulting, and conducting research. I also received hands-on support with deciding what mental health programs would be a good fit for me and interview preparation. Dr. Hill’s coaching made the difference for me with acquiring an Assistant Adjunct Professor position in the Marital Family Therapy Program at USC. It was Dr. Hill’s mentorship that also assisted me with getting past my fears and taking my career to the next level.
